RUMI · THE SHORT VERSION
Rumi in plain words
This is the short, easy version of Rumi's Terms and Privacy Policy. The full versions are the ones that count.
What Rumi is
Rumi keeps your recovery plan, medicine notes, food and drinks, and questions in one place after surgery. People helping you can use it too.
It is not a doctor or a pharmacist. It never changes a dose, checks how medicines mix or moves your diet forward. Your surgical team and pharmacist decide those.
Not for emergencies
Nobody watches Rumi in real time, not even your care team. What you note may not be seen quickly, or at all.
In a medical emergency, call 911. If you are thinking about suicide or feel in crisis, call or text 988, any time.
What stays on your phone
These stay on your phone and are not sent to us: your meal photos and your date of birth and your answer to the Terms.
What we keep for you
When you are signed in, your notes are copied to our servers, so they are backed up and can reach a care team if you connect one.
We never sell your information, we show no ads, there are no ad or tracking tools in the app, and we never use what you note to train AI.
Who can see your notes
You can.
Someone helping you can add notes on your phone too, and each note shows who added it.
Your care team can, but only after you connect to their program with a code or invite and sign an agreement to share. You can end that in the app at any time, and their access stops.
AI in Rumi
Photo naming is off until you say yes. When it is on, a copy of a meal photo goes through our server to OpenAI, which sends back a short food name, never amounts or judgments. We do not keep the photo. Rumi has no AI chat.
Medicine reminders
Reminders are off unless you turn them on. Rumi only uses the medicine times your care team confirmed, and the lock screen just says "Rumi", never the medicine.
Other optional extras
Scanning a barcode sends only the barcode number to Open Food Facts, a public food database, to find the label. Label values are shown as printed and may be wrong.
Your age
You need to be 13 or older. If you are 13 to 17, a parent or legal guardian agrees to the Terms for you, and you say you want to use the app too.
A parent or guardian can email us to see what we have about their teen, take back their OK, or ask us to delete it.
Free, with an optional extra
Rumi is free. Noting, asking for help, your care team, your history and export never cost anything. An optional Pro subscription adds extras, like more looks for your companion. Apple or Google handles the payment, and you cancel in your phone's subscription settings.
Leaving
You can delete your account any time. It closes right away, a connected care team loses access, and your information on our servers is erased within 30 days. We keep a few records the law asks for, like the sharing agreements you signed, for about six years, under an internal number instead of your name. How to delete your account.
